Beat

Māori translation:
Definition

A beat is when a company reports earnings results that are better than analysts expected. A company can beat expectations on measures such as revenue, profit or earnings per share (EPS). For example, if analysts expect EPS of US$1.00 and the company reports US$1.10, it has beaten EPS expectations.A beat doesn’t necessarily mean the company is performing better than it did previously. It means the result was better than the expectations investors and analysts had before the earnings report.
