Fundamental analysis
Fundamental analysis is a method of evaluating an investment by examining the factors that may affect its value, such as a company's financial performance, business model, competitive position and growth prospects. Using fundamental analysis can help determine whether an investment is overvalued, undervalued or fairly valued to the current price.
Analysis often includes reviews of financial statements, earnings reports, revenue growth, debt and other external factors.
While fundamental analysis can help an investor make a more informed decision of a company's outlook, it does not guarantee its success.
