Gyrating, or gyrations
Definition
In share markets, gyrating refers to significant and rapid up and down fluctuations in share prices, indicating market volatility. These gyrations can be driven by geopolitical events, interest rate movements, shifting investor sentiment, government policies, and economic news. An example of 'gyrating' in a sentence is, ‘this maelstrom of markets gyrating up and down’, used to describe the US economy in April 2025. Gyrating can also mean this. 🕺
