Koha, kohi, or whakaaro

Māori translation:
Koha, kohi, whakaaro
Definition

A gift, contribution or donation given in kind as a show of reciprocity, support or thanks for generosity shown. Some iwi and hapū use whakaaro or kohi, due to thoughts around tapu and the longer form word takoha.

Whakataukī:

Ahakoa he iti he pounamu — Although it is small, it is greenstone

We acknowledge and thank the FMA, Dr Karena Kelly and Brook Taurua Grant, the RBNZ and the Māori Dictionary for their research which helped us with te Reo Māori kupu for this glossary.
