Did an AI chatbot write this? ✍️

Will chatbots replace Google anytime soon? Seems newly released chatbot, ChatGPT, can do anything, from rapping about wealth to telling your kids the truth about Santa. Hoping it doesn’t go the way of other chatbots that are a little bit racist. For now, anyway, Google looks safe.

If you’re under 30, you probs don’t remember a world without Google (GOOGL, GOOG). How did people, like, know anything? Did confusion just reign 24/7? Pretty much! 🤷

But we soon might have a new go-to when it comes to answering questions. The release of an AI chatbot last week called ChatGPT has shocked even the most tech-savvy for its incredible text writing abilities. Need a rap-song about growing your wealth? A letter to tell your kids the truth about Santa? How about an explanation of quantum mechanics… in the style of a cat? ChatGPT has you covered. Try it out for yourself here. ⌨️

The company behind ChatGPT is OpenAI, whose co-founders include Elon Musk and Palantir (PLTR) co-founder, Peter Thiel. OpenAI works closely with Microsoft (MSFT) to create new AI technologies, and the chatbot is so effective at crafting answers it left some users wondering if it might put Google out of a job.🔎

That probably won’t be anytime soon. While chatbots can provide answers to specific questions, they’re usually limited by the information they’ve been trained on. AI chatbots are also fraught with ethical challenges, particularly around removing bias or hateful speech. Meta (META) found that out the hard way this year after releasing an AI chatbot called BlenderBot 3, which quickly turned racist. Microsoft’s own Twitter chatbot ‘Tay’? Tay made it just 16 hours before Microsoft shut it down for tweeting out offensive nonsense. 🤬

Google does have its own chatbot called LaMDA, a marshmallow loving bot, which earlier in the year was accused of being ‘sentient’ by one of Google’s own engineers. So, did an AI chatbot write this? Wouldn’t that be AI-mazing! 🦾
